As class VIII students will be entering into board classes, where they can choose the subject of their liking from a number of subjects in class IX itself. A student of class IX can choose any 3 subjects out of the following subjects:

1.                   Maths

2.                   Science

3.                   Computer Science

4.                   Commercial Studies

5.                   Economics

6.                   Humanities (Many Subjects)

The students who do not like Maths or Science and do not want to pursue these subjects in XI and XII can opt for the subjects of their choice right in class IX itself. This great facility is available in ‘Chaman Vatika’ as we are affiliated to ICSE. Unfortunately these facilities are not available in CBSE or other boards. There is another facility available in ICSE which is not there in CBSE. For Science Students, if they failed in Maths, but pass in Science or vice versa, they will still be given a pass certificates and they can join class XI in any school.

Taking the above facts into consideration, we decided to have an interactive counselling session with parents on Sunday the 3rd of Feb 2013, which was presided over by the Principal of the school. It was a very lively session, in which there was very fruitful and hearty discussion between our teachers and parents. Some of the class VIII students who were present in the session also presented their views. However, there were certain queries raised by many parents, which were satisfactorily answered by our teachers, but unfortunately all the parents could not attend this interactive session. As we feel that the same queries can be in the minds of all those parents also who could not attend the session, we are giving below those queries and their answers.

Query No. 1  We understand that Science and English are more difficult in ICSE than CBSE.

 A.     No, it only looks like that, because in ICSE all topics, which the children are going to study in class XI and XII are included in the syllabus. But these topics are discussed only on the conceptual level, so that when the students graduate to class XI the concepts of all the topics are clear to them, which helps them in better understanding of all the topics. No difficult questions are asked in the board exams. of class X.

 B.    However the standard of English is better in ICSE than in CBSE. Those students who are very weak in English should take up CBSE only, because in CBSE a child can answer the paper of all subjects, other than English in Hindi also. But in professional colleges whether Engineering, Medical, Law or MBA etc, students are taught in English only and they have to attempt all papers in English only. However, students at ‘Chaman Vatikaget very good marks in English also, because of our special training in written as well as spoken English.

Query No. 2    Why is it that in Science the ICSE has three separate papers for Physics, Chemistry, Biology, 2 in S.St. and 2 in English, while CBSE is having only one Paper for each of these subjects?

A    This is because the choice of questions in ICSE is three times more than the in CBSE. When all the three different subjects of Science i.e. Physics, Chemistry & biology are compressed into one paper the choice is also compressed. In CBSE student does not have much choice if he forgets the answer to even one question. Same is true for other subjects also. In ICSE, the students have to attempt only 1/3 or 1/2  of the syllabus in one paper. That is why students get better marks in ICSE than those in CBSE.

The results of the last 5 years is given below, for you to decided, whether your child will get better marks in ‘Chaman Vatika’ or in any other school.

3.    Is there any arrangement of coaching the students for competitive exams like, AIEEE or IITJEE etc for class IX & X also.

A.     Yes, We have already made arrangement with ‘ACE Tutorials’ who will be preparing those students for these exams who opt to go for such coaching, luckily our teachers will also be available to clarify any such points, which the students may not be able to understand in the coaching classes.

Over and above that, we are planning to take special care of brilliant students by creating Star Classes for them, where the standard of education will be very high. However, remedial classes will also be available for students who are weak in one or more subjects

We also believe that with goods intelligence quotient an equally good emotional quotient also very important for a child to grow up to be a successful person in life. We have made arrangement with some renowned psychiatrists, and counsellors who will be visiting the school regularly to attend to the emotional needs of the students

Keeping the importance of emotional quotient in view, we have also made arrangement with ‘Art of Living’ society by which they will be taking regular Yoga classes for the development of mind as well as body.

With this we assure you of providing a holistic, all round education to your child.

A Brief Synopsis of the Interactive Counselling Session

Held on 31.01.2013 at Chaman Vatika School

Class X students after passing the Exam will be at cross roads, where they have to finally decide as what carrier they want to pursue in life. Taking this thing into consideration we at “Chaman Vatika” arranged an interactive Counselling Session with the parents and students. During this session Mr. Parjat Khandelwal and Mr. Dilbagh Singh the renowed carrier counsellors were invited to interact with the students and the parents. It proved to be very lively and fruitful session for all concerned. There was not a single dull moment during two and a half hours of interaction. Every body agreed that the students have to choose their subjects in class XI itself according to the profession they want to adopt later in life, whether Engineering, Medicine, MBA, law or even business.

However, most of the parents were more concerned about Science Subjects for competitive exams for Engineering Colleges and for Commerce Subjects for doing MBA etc.

It was surprising to note that most of the parents as well as students, did not know that from this year the system of selection in AIEEE and IIT JEE has changed. Previously any body who got 60% marks in the board exam could appear in the above competitive exams. For entrance the marks obtained in the competition exam only were counted. But now the system has changed. From this year 60% weightage will be given to the marks obtained in the AIEEE, IIT JEE and 40% weightage will be given to the marks obtained in the board exams i.e. If a student get 90% in AIEEE and 70% in the board exam, his total marks, will be 54+28=82. if another student get 80% in AIEEE and gets 90% in board exam. He will score 48 + 36 = 84.

So one thing is very clear that students now cannot afford to ignore the school curriculum; because it is very important that they get very good marks in board exam also.

There were certain queries from the parents. Some are discussed below.

Q1. That Chaman Vatika is affiliated to ICSE while the AIEEE + IIT JEE follow CBSE syllabus.

A)  For the last two years the syllabus of Science Subjects is the same in ICSE as in CBSE. This has been done by the orders of the Government.

Q2.  Is there any arrangement in “Chaman Vatika” for Coaching for the Competitive Exams?

Ans.    Yes, we are already having coaching classes by the nationally  known coaching centre “ACE Tutorials”. The students who are already attending these coaching classes are very much satisfied with their method of teaching. Over and above that, our own teachers are there for guidance as well as revising, whatever is being taught in the coaching classes.  All this facility will be provided during school hours only. So, the students will have ample of time for self study at home.

In any other school this facility is not available, because the topics taught at the coaching classes are normally different from what is being taught in the school. So that is why the students who are going for coaching classes hardly attend the school. But from this year it has become very important to attend the school also.

We assure you that students of Chaman Vatika will get better results than those of any other school. The result of ‘Chaman Vatikans’ for the last 5 years is given below, so that you can judge it for yourself.

For Commerce Students

For commerce students, “Chaman Vatika” is a boon for the following reasons:

1.         20 % marks in the commerce subjects are in the hands of the subject teachers. This is because Chaman Vatika is being affiliated to ICSE. The students have to appear only for 80% marks in the board exams. This facility is not available in schools affiliated to CBSE.

So naturally students of “Chaman Vatika” stand to get better marks than in other schools.

This you can judge for yourself from the result of “Chaman Vatika” of board exams for the last five years given below:

2.         There is another great facility available because of ICSE at “Chaman Vatika”. A child has to pass in 4 subjects out of 5 subjects, while in CBSE you have to pass in all the 5 subjects to clear the exam. Over and above that, in ICSE a child can opt for a sixth subject also in which he feels more comfortable. So, actually a he also has the choice of passing in 4 out of 6 subjects.

 3.         The exam is held in “Chaman Vatika” itself. This has a great psychological advantage for the students.

 4.         Some parents feel that Standard of English is high in ICSE than CBSE. This is true. Those students who are very weak in English should take up CBSE only, because in CBSE a child can answer the paper of all subjects, other than English in Hindi also. But in professional colleges whether it is Engineering, Medical, Law or MBA etc, students are taught in English only and they have to attempt all papers in English only.
